“Children see magic because they look for it.”
Christopher Moore
We kicked off our adventure on Saturday evening by packing up the car with excitement bubbling in the air. Arad was my little helper, eagerly assisting with loading everything we needed for our getaway. After getting everything sorted, we hit the road from Tulln toward St. Valentin, making a quick stop at the supermarket to grab some essentials. In the way Arad asked me thousands questions about the cars, roads laws, and many other subjects that comes to his seven years old fantastic minds.
Once we arrived home, we wasted no time diving into some cooking fun, preparing a delicious meal together. With our tummies full, we settled in for a bit of children’s TV program, and building his Valentin gift which was a 3d puzzle of his favourite fantasy character, Pokemon. In the evening, Arad surprised me with a request for Eyddie, an Iranian tradition where children receive money for Nowruz celebrations. When I asked him what he planned to do with his Eyddie, his response warmed my heart and tickled my soul. “I will save them,” he declared with determination, “and when I grow up, I will buy a Lamborghini!” His dreams were as vast and boundless as the open sky, and I couldn’t help but marvel at the innocence and optimism that danced within his young heart. The day’s activities soon caught up with us, and we drifted off to sleep early, eager for the adventures that awaited us the next day.
Bright and early on Sunday morning, Arad and I were up and at ’em. We started the day with some quality playtime, tackling a challenging train puzzle together. As midday approached, we decided to treat ourselves to a tasty lunch at McDonald’s before heading off to our main destination: Linz Zoo.
At the zoo, we visited the Easter rabbit whom welcomed us to the zoo! Also, Arad was on a mission, snapping photos of all the amazing animals we encountered. We were both captivated by the sight of two enormous turtles and delighted in exploring habitats filled with tropical creatures, desert dwellers, and a colorful array of birds.
After a day of animal adventures, we treated ourselves to some delicious ice cream before heading back home. Back at the house, we tackled the family game we’d received from McDonald’s, enjoyed some more playtime, and settled in for a cozy evening of children’s programming and a hearty dinner.
As the day drew to a close, we snuggled up in bed, eager to recharge for the excitement that awaited us the next day.
And what a day it was! We started with a scrumptious breakfast, completed our intricate train puzzle, and spent the morning enjoying each other’s company with music and games.
In the afternoon, we hopped on a train to Linz city, where we savored a delicious meal in an Italian restaurant before boarding another train to the Tulln Stadt station. There, I bid farewell to Arad as he embarked on the next leg of his journey, returning to his mother’s care.
And just like that, our Easter vacation came to an end, leaving us with cherished memories of laughter, exploration, and the special bond shared between a father and his son. Here’s to many more adventures together in the future!
